Marybeth, or "Mb" as we like to call her, began her involvement with WCG in 2011 as a volunteer on the chicken crew and garden crew and at numerous Spring Plant Sales before joining the WCG staff in January 2016. Mb’s prior career spanned nearly twenty years at the University of Utah in graduate school and research coordination at Huntsman Cancer Institute and the Office of Research Integrity. She received her Masters Degree in Social Psychology in 1993, but she’s spent every free minute since the mid-90's honing her gardening skills and growing vegetables, berries, fruit trees, and annual and perennial flowers and herbs. She's an absolute fanatic for tomatoes, having now grown 243 varieties of tomatoes, and she trials new varieties in the WCG Teaching Gardens and in her home garden every year. Her newest obsession is genetic dwarf and micro dwarf tomatoes, which she's convinced will revolutionize tomato growing for home gardeners with limited space. When she isn’t gardening, cooking, or canning, Mb can be found with her husband and two Labradors roaming the Rocky Mountains and Pacific Northwest to fly fish, hike, backpack, paddle board, or Nordic ski.
