Wasatch Community Gardens supports the growth of community gardens in Salt Lake County through three main programs. For questions about
Green City Growers
Green City Growers is a partnership between Wasatch Community Gardens and Salt Lake City Parks & Open Lands to start and manage new community gardens on Salt Lake City land.
Available Parcels - All city properties will be considered as potential garden sites, although sites will need to be pre-approved to ensure that they have proper water line and other conditions conducive to creating a successful and sustainable community garden. Click here for a map of city sites.
How to Apply - The application process includes gathering a core group of committed organizers, demonstrating community demand by collecting signatures of interested gardeners, and reaching out to partnering organizations for volunteers and support. If the application is approved, organizers participate in the process of designing and building the garden.
Parks for Produce
Parks for Produce is a partnership between Wasatch Community Gardens and Salt Lake County to start and manage new community gardens on Salt Lake County land.

Consultation - We are happy to help you answer remaining questions, meet with your garden group or do an initial site visit. Availability is dependent on the season. How To Start A Community Garden Workshop - This workshop walks you through the steps of starting a community or school garden. Topics include forming a committee, planning the garden, organizing gardeners, overcoming challenges and fostering community involvement. We offer this workshop once a year. Once it is scheduled, it appears on our general workshop calendar.
Additional Support - Graduates of our Growing Community Gardens Training whose gardens projects align with Wasatch Community Gardens' mission and values are eligible to apply for continued support, including access to free or discounted gardening materials for community garden use (as available).
